- To operate and optimize the continental databank of the African Power sector accessible by internet since October 2005.
- To promote and strengthen cooperation between the African power pools in the framework of the Statement of Cooperation signed in Lusaka on 25 th November 2005 .
- To initiate studies and promote implementation of major sub-regional interconnection projects and “power highways”.
- To follow up implementation of the pilot programme on cross border villages electrification, in particular with the support of development partners who show interest to the continent electrification.
- To speed up the setting up and operation of the African Electrotechnical Standards Commission (AFSEC) which has been launched in June 2005 in Accra , under the sponsorship of the African Union .
- To finalize the African electrical map which is being designed by the UPDEA‘s Experts.
- To continue consultations and studies in order to facilitate realization of the setting up of the African Fund for Rural Electrification Development (FADER)
